Time and again we see comments from those outside of the fandom and unfortunately also those within the fandom who make comments about EXO that are less than deserved and are intent on embarrassing the members. Chanyeol has experienced this recently on his IG from netizens. Our fellow EXOLs are taking the recent article about ARMYs celebrating BTS’ 4th Debut Anniversary in Times Square as a direct act of plagiarism in an apparent long trend of acts further fanning the flames of the ongoing “fanwar” occurring between ARMYs and EXOLs.
Instead of engaging in verbal warfare over tweets or otherwise…we should save our energy and submit the examples to this address: firstname.lastname@example.org. All you have to do is take a screen shot and record details of the comments and who is involved and that is it!
Our care and concern must be EXO. That is it. Let’s create new records alongside them. Let’s do right by them. Anything else is a distraction. Let’s focus on keeping ourselves healthy, safe and happy so we can enjoy EXO’s Grand Comeback. If we have concerns let’s talk amongst each other EXOLs and give each other support/encouragement. Any slander we see we know what to do. Simply report it and keep moving. Our energy is better spent on EXO’s success. There is so much for us to be excited for. EXO has been preparing & working so hard for their comeback and it’s important that we don’t lose focus now. It does hurt to feel like all the hard work of EXO/EXOLs is not being acknowledged & that’s why we turn to each other now. Who else is going to pipe up EXO/EXOLs but EXO/EXOLs? A family is just that. Let’s be here for each other now.
Of course this doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t engage someone whether a fellow EXO-L or a member of another fan group and have a discussion. We should be able to talk with one another and those not within our fandom about concerns that we have. But judging from the tone of these “discussions” we truly accomplish nothing but angering ourselves, and continuing the fanwar.
And in the case of our members, we do them a disservice. It is one thing to try to defend/educate the members by pointing out that something isn’t right. But it is another to harass them on their social media about something that really isn’t even an issue (like talking with friends….and a former co-star on social media…it’s called social media for a reason. Its a venue for all of us to communicate with one another…why should that be something for fans to harass the members about?)
Feel free to comment about your thoughts EXOLs. Consider this an invitation to an ongoing open forum.
